Spring :-)

Here’s a pic from Easter Sunday (5 days ago :-) )

Waiting at Center

Sergiy snapped this as we were waiting at Center to meet up with Yurie (My translator).  (BTW, I probably am spelling some Ukrainian names wrong…  This website only supports English lettering, and I may not be transliterating to English correctly…  The good news is I am thinking in Ukrainian letters when I write their names :-) )  Wanted to give y’all a glimpse of L’viv.  Last time I was in center (about 2 months ago), it was black and gray.  Now that the snow is melted and trees/plants are blooming, it looks waaaaayyyy better :-)

Looking out my window, I can see a big difference between now and when I first arrived.  Then I took a pic, and it looked like this…Jan 28th, 2009Temp was about 1-2 degrees C, the sun was out maybe one day a week (or 2 wks…), and everything was varying shades of grey…  Now, look outside :-)April 24th, 2009It’s between 15 and 20 degrees C, the sun is out almost everyday, and (aside from the apartment buildings) grey has turned to green :-)  Spring is here!  It’s amazing :-)

Sunday, I will be preaching at our worship service out at the Beals.  Our team has a great time of worship, fellowship, and, of course, food (We come from Baptist churches after all :-P lol).  Sunday is the highlight of my week (oh, in the orthodox calendar [which it appears that all of Ukraine uses], Sunday is the last day of the week instead of the first).  I believe I will base out of Psalm 91, but there’s still 2 days between now and then, so it might change :-)

Blessings to y’all!  Hope God is using you where ever you are!

A great Easter :-)

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Thank you for the prayers, the sermon went well yesterday.  In Ukraine, yesterday was Easter, hence the title :-) .  It was a beautiful day, spring has came, and things are budding, blooming, and growing greener.  And, praise God, it’s not stuff I am allergic to :-)  Hallelujah!!!!  I was out in the village yesterday (near the Beal’s house), and I was noticing how peaceful it was.  The sun was warm, the breeze was cool, and the landscape was awesome.  What a great day!

Friday, we filled the last of the Good and Evil requests that we have received, and they were dropped off at the Post Office.  There are now over 100 copies that have been sent out across Ukraine.  Enclosed in each one is a survey on what they think of the book.  We have been getting these back in the mail and it is an encouragement to us to read them.  Below is one such note…
Peace to you, dear brothers and sisters!
I am immeasurably grateful to you for the book Good and Evil! The quality illustrations are helpful in visualizing major [Bible] events. Such an account of the Bible is a good guidebook not only for children, but also for people of the older generation. For example, my mother really liked your book. She’s 78 years old. She says that the the illustrated format makes it much easier to understand.
Again, thank you so much for your wonderful gift! I wish you success in your very beneficial work. May God bless you generously.
The man who wrote this is also a student in our Chronological Bible Course.

It appears that my housing situation has been fully settled, so thank you all for the prayers in regards to that.

Our Tuesday English Club/Audio Bible Studies have been going well, we have a consistent core group coming.  Every week we work on our English, then listen to some great teaching from the word of God.

Josh has allowed me to borrow his old bike while I am looking around to purchase one of my own.  It is a great mode of transportation, and sometimes it can be faster then the buses (due to traffic).

Well, the day is well on it’s way, and I have speech therapy and a language lesson to get ready for.  Have a great day, and remember Christ!

A quick update

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

A quick note to let y’all know I’m preaching at L’viv Bible Church (also called Word of God Church) tomorrow for Easter (It’s a week later here in Ukraine then in the USA).  The service starts at noon, so that would be 4am CST (If you’re up then :-) ).  I would appreciate your prayers for it to go well, as it will be my first time preaching a full sermon through a Ukrainian translator.  Also please pray that the Holy Spirit will speak through me to the people.  I’ll update next week on how it went.  Thank you for your prayer support!

Today…

Just a quick update on what’s happened today…

Another dozen Good and Evils went out today, and I was the only one at the Post Office to drop them off :-)  It was a new first step for me.  :-)  No translation help and a task to do :-)

I had a speech therapy session this afternoon, but I didn’t have a language lesson as my teacher is in South Ukraine for a few days.  I was able to have a time of fellowship with the Steele’s this evening that was quite enjoyable (Even though Josh just barely squeaked out a victory in Catan :-P ).  It is a blessing to work with the team here, and fellowship with them as well.

We are still accepting applications for CMO 2009 (deadline is April 15th), so if you are interested, check it out!  Click here for more info!

It’s getting late, so that’s all for now.  Let your light shine!

More Good and Evils head out…

Today we sent out another round of Good and Evils…

Waiting to go to the Post Office...

Waiting to go to the Post Office...

So we’re about 3/4 of the way caught up with the requests we have received.  We’ve already gotten feedback from the books we sent out last time :-)

Thank you to everyone who has been praying about my language lessons.  After having a hard time last week, the last 2-3 lessons have been much easier.  I’ve been able to concentrate through the entire lesson (I was having problems with mind blocks forming halfway thru…), and I am starting to understand the next 2 cases that have been introduced to me.  Thank you so much for your prayers, I believe that is what has profited me these last few lessons!  My speech therapy sessions have been going well, with several lines of dialogue being exchanged and understood today :-) !

I spent a large portion of Tuesday working on a newsletter then after so many hours, came to the conclusion that the format I was using was not going to work.  I now understand why newsletter can be a bit of a pain for missionaries :-)  Nevertheless, I will be completing one tomorrow and sending it out :-) .  Hope it will be worth the wait…  We will see :-P

That’s all for now.  Hope God is using you in powerful ways!  God bless
