Transporting Good and Evil packets to the post office.

Transporting Good and Evil packets to the post office.

On Friday, we were able to mail out 54 Good and Evil books (including Lesson 1 of our Correspondence Bible Course to those who are not already students).  As I had never been to that post office before, I ended up walking right by it :-P  Then after turning around and going back, I still had a hard time finding it.  Thankfully, Denise was already there, so she was able to flag me down at the right spot…

I am now taking speech therapy lessons in addition to my language lessons.  The goal is for me to speak as a Ukrainian, so we are currently working on several sound combinations (that are non-existent in English) that I am having trouble with…  The other thing is that my instructor speaks no English.  So, it can be difficult at times to communicate.  I have found out that I can parrot sounds/words pretty well :-)

Unfortunately, it is getting late, and I have a busy day tomorrow.  Please pray for my lessons.  I have speech and language lessons on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  I hope to post more soon.  God bless

Excited :-)

So, I was able to find steak, hamburger buns, and Super Zhivchik (a carbonated lemonade like drink, has quite a history with CMO Stallions :-) ) today at a different supermarket.  That was really good news :-D .  I also found out that the supermarket near me that has been very low on supplies (they have one aisle full of only cooking oil…) has apparently gone bankrupt, but is now under new management, and it looks like it will make a come back…  Which is a huge blessing to me, because it is right down the street from me, so I don’t have to find a way to get to a different store. :-)

There has been a lot of things going on with our team here.  First off, Nathan Day is courting!  For more of his story, click here.  We are all very excited for Nathan and Katelin.  Josh and Kelsie had a good trip to Poland last week and were able to get their passport stuff taken care of.  For more of their adventures, click here (I think the last pic on the post is hilarious, though you might have to be in UA for a while to get it :-) ).  There is also some sickness that is still going around here, so please pray for our health.

On the language front, I am doing pretty good.  I have had 18 lesson so far, and have quite a few words in my repertoire.  I have a test on Friday, then after that we will be focusing more on grammar and construction over learning new words (i.e. being able to use the words I know in sentences becoming a 24 year old, not a 2 year old :-P ).

For those of you who follow Daylight Savings Time (which is probably everybody reading this), the USA (United States of America) just started DST this past Sunday.  UA (Ukraine) doesn’t start till the end of the month.  So, for the next few weeks, we will only be 7 hours ahead of CST.  This is going to throw me off till I get used to it, which I bet will be about the time it ends :-D

I am still working on my newsletter.  I believe it’s probably going to be ready to send off toward the end of the month.  If you would like to receive this (it will be sent as an attachment to an email) please let me know by clicking here.  Just put ‘Newsletter Subscription’ or something like that in the subject line.  If you would like to subscribe to this blog, click here.  The blog has about a weekly update, while the newsletter will be more monthly/bimonthly.  (You might have noticed I recently found out how to add hyperlinks, so I’m sprinkling them in everywhere :-) )

Let me take a moment to advertise for CMO.  Check out more information here.  Truthfully guys, this trip can change your life!  The deadline for registration is April 15th (yes, tax day), so there’s still time.  We’re looking forward to having a great group this year, so don’t miss out!  :-)

Finally, I would like to do something that I won’t do to often on this website, but it is consuming some of my time here, so I am letting you know about it.  Check out the website: www.redenvelopeday.com  There has been so much innocent blood shed in America.  WE, as a nation, cannot abuse God’s mercy and grace forever.  It’s a simple idea, doesn’t cost much (about $.50), and it could change the heart of the President.  Will you please consider joining me?

Good and Evil mail-out coming soon

This week I’ve been working on getting our Good and Evil full versions ready to mail out.

Almost ready to go to the Post Office...

Almost ready to go to the Post Office...

We have been gathering requests for “Good and Evil” in Ukrainian for quite some time.  There are currently 112 Ukrainians waiting to receive their copy of this book.  That means there are 112 books to wrap in protective wrap (just like the States, you have to protect what goes through the mail), 112 envelopes to address, pack, seal, and tape, and 112 packages to get to a post office and get mailed off :-) .  It’s a work in progress, and as the Bible states, God’s word shall not return void.

We took a week off from our English Club/Bible Study (Josh and Kelsie had to make a run to Krakow to the Ukrainian embassy).  Taras and Igor (2 men from English Club) had asked me last week if they could come and practice their English on this off week.  I said sure.  So Tuesday night found me waiting for them to arrive.  When they did, they suggested that we go to a cafe and talk there.  I thought nothing of it, so I grabbed my jacket and headed off.  As we discussed what we would drink, I suddenly remembered that these guys drink…  Ooops…  When we ordered, they got 2 beers, and I got tea.  Thus started a conversation about drinking.  They asked when the last time I drank beer was, and I said ‘Never.’  They were shocked.  ’But what about all the vitamins?’  Thankfully, we got distracted on the word vitamin (they were saying witman, it took the pocket English/Ukrainian dictionary to figure out what was being said), and I was able to side track that question.  I really don’t think a discussion on the evils of alcohol would have been beneficial to their spiritual condition.  Anyway, we had a good discussion on a variety of things and at the end of an hour, we were all ready to do it again.  We’ll have to see how our schedules can work out, but I ask that you pray for future meetings.  I do not believe either of these men are saved, so please pray for God to use our times together.

I am working on a newsletter to go out in the near future (I’m new to this so we’ll see how it turns out :-) ).  It will be sent out via email.  If you are interested in receiving a copy, please contact me.  Just put Newsletter Subscription in the Subject line.  I am not, at this point, mailing hardcopies, but if this is something that you would like, let me know and we can look into it…

Hope ya’ll have a great day!  God bless, and thanks for all the prayers!
